Romola’s Seafood & Grille Is Now Open

Romola's Seafood & GrilleI was lucky enough the other day to accompany my co-workers from Downtown Cranford Business & Economic Development to meet the owners of Romola’s Seafood & Grille, which is now open. Romola’s is the effort between Sonny Gjuvakj and Mike Ventura, and is named after Mike’s mother. Sonny and Mike also own Brooklyn Pizza, and felt that there was a real need for a seafood restaurant in the area. The menu already has my mouth watering. Appetizers include shrimp cocktail, grilled calamari, tuna tartar, and grilled octopus. For entrees seafood lovers have a number of choices, including monkfish, red snapper, shrimp and scallops, and fresh Maine lobster. The restaurant has options for meat lovers too, like rack of lamb, surf and turf, and osso bucco.

The restaurant seats 50, and will be open from Tuesday – Sunday, 5 – 10PM. Reservations are recommended, so call ahead or check them out on Opentable. Also, like most of the restaurants in Cranford, Romoloa’s will be byo. However, they’ll also have a wine list provided by their neighbor, NJ Wine Seller. If you pick one of those wines the store will deliver it and only charge the store price. How great is that? I’ve seen many women sitting alone at dinner while their boyfriend or husband runs out to grab a bottle of wine, so I’m sure people will appreciate this service.

If you get a chance to go to Romola’s, please let me know what you think. I can’t wait to stop by. Hmm, maybe I should see the next time my parents can babysit…
